CELIK TEKNE Shipyard established at the golden horn in ISTANBUL in 1972. After building the first coasters for the Turkish merchant fleet, in 1981, the yard moved to its present location in the Tuzla Shipyard area.

Representing the one of the largest and the most efficient private owned shipyard in Turkey, the yard has involved in construction of various container ships, arctic trawlers and chemical tankers. One of the important milestones in the history of CELIK TEKNE Shipyard is the successfully delivery of 5.500 DWT M/T COSMO to MEDITERRANEA DI NAVIGAZIONE S.P.A ITALY in September 2003, a new building order ever placed from ITALY to TURKEY. M/T COSMO is an eco-friendly IMO II Tanker equipped with all devices to face the most stringent safety and anti pollution needs. Despite such demanding requirements and its short experience to built complex ships, CELIK TEKNE Shipyard delivered M/T COSMO on the contractual terms. This ship is a milestone to gain international reputation and lead to further orders from European Owners.

There is a continuous effort to increase the technological level and productivity of the Shipyard. With the strong management team, the deliveries of the sophisticated vessels have provided CELIK TEKNE Shipyard with experience, know how and good reputation in the shipbuilding industry.

Some of the achievements that make CELIK TEKNE Shipyard the pioneer in the Turkish Shipbuilding Industry can be summarized as follows: CELIK TEKNE Shipyard has constructed the biggest amount of ships with respect to the number and the deadweight capacity during the last ten year period, the first IMO II Tanker, the first dual classified vessel, the first environmental friendly vessel with “GREEN STAR” notation, and the first 27.000 DWT vessel. CELIK TEKNE Shipyard is the first shipyard in TURKEY that has been awarded with the contract for the construction of the vessel to be operated in the polar conditions of -35 oC.

Today, CELIK TEKNE Shipyard has specialized mainly on the construction of the sophisticated Chemical Tankers, Container Vessels, Multi Purpose Dry Cargo Vessels and Arctic Trawlers with the turnkey delivery contracts. CELIK TEKNE Shipyard has the capability to deliver all types of modern merchant and special purpose vessels up to 30.000 DWT, tailor made according to the requirements of the Owner. The design department of CELIK TEKNE shipyard with Tribon CAD/CAM facilities meets to all the sophisticated, modern shipbuilding requirements.
